Aoi

When Aoi first came to the clan, he was one of the first five hatchlings that Valenandron and Ahallo had taken under their wings. He grew up happily with Senec, Fol, and Svris as his siblings. He was a charming lad, full of spirit and pep. He always had kind words of encouragement to say, friendly advice to give, a hand to lend, a shoulder to cry on- if he was needed he was more than happy to help, he was there.
thus naturally, he was overjoyed when his new parents had their own hatchlings- the more the merrier, after all! Of course the guardians adamantly treated all their children equally, but Aoi knew and understood Ahallo had wanted her own eggs. Everything was perfect- he himself had children, first with Themis, a skydancer, and then withh Hikari, another imperial. Themis was happy with a newcomer to the clan, and he was absolutely enchanted with Hikari. He was happy.
And yet...
Yet slowly, his family started disappearing.
His family, Ahallo and Valenandron's children went on to serve the Flamecaller. He hurt, he would miss them, after all, but he tried to understand. He truly, truly did. Then his first mate, Themis whom he did care for, she went on to serve the Flamecaller not long after. Aoi and Anil grieved for her loss, and Hikari tried to be understanding.
Yet their children went on and on to serve the Flamecaller.
She left to serve the Flamecaller, too.
He doesn't begrudge the Flamecaller or hate her, no, the Mother of his land and Clan meant them no ill will, she was a powerful diety, one whom many wished to serve. It was an honor to feel the call to serve her, to be welcomed into her ranks, after all.
He did, however, begrudge those who left for answering the call. Leaving him behind. His siblings, his loves, his children. His usually kind and cheery demeanor exchanged for a more jaded, tired, and generally world-weary perspective.
During this period of time his usually Navy scales faded into a transluscient sheen, exposing charred bones and a volcanic interior. Wings once a cheery aqua now a leathery brown. Many were frightened by such a dramatic change in the imperial, but his parents and siblings knew better. It was during this time that Fol also went some sort of Fire Metamorphasis, and through her efforts the clan tried to right the wrong their initial fear had caused. Aoi still holds the grudge, but lets it simmer in the depths of his heart to rot.
After all was said and done, the once-social imperial turned his head to something that nobody would bother him doing- potion making. What started as a way to distance himself quickly became a favored pasttime, the imperial taking to it like a duck to water. His time spent pouring over recipies and looming over cauldrons finally doing something to clear up his apathetic worldview.
Of course his family still visits him to keep him social, as does his son- though something seems to be bothering the young skydancer...
