Biography
As the headmaster of the academy, Cog already has plenty to deal with, even with the two nameless golems he considers old friends to aid him.
With his two main professors locked in rivalry, Uela's concerns to fend off and his own classes to teach, it is a wonder that he manages to find any time for his own numerous experiments (he has lost track of how many there are; so many have been started and left halfway through). It is rare to see him stay still in one place, even for a moment, and during his lectures students are often hypnotised by the endless swirling and coiling of his frame. Despite his constant activity, the professor manages to exude an ever present aura of calm, no matter how dire the situation appears to be. As well as the many eyes on his body, he is surrounded by floating ones that seem to appear and disappear arbitrarily: sometimes winking in and out of existence in an instant, sometimes slowly fading away as though forgotten. Although the four by his face seem to be permanent, the others fluctuate greatly in number, size and shape, from days when only one or two eyes as big as his wings follow him to days when he is surrounded by a swarm of eyes no larger than a Perdita bee. They aid him in various ways: viewing memories as clearly as the day they were made, glimpsing visions of possible futures, peering into other dimensions and alternate realities or memorising impossibly complicated spells in an instant, to name but a few uses. It is extraordinarily rare- and extremely unsettling, say those who have been the subject of it- for all his eyes to focus upon one thing at once. While his eldritch nature may not be the most reassuring of personalities, he is known to be a benevolent protector of his students and staff alike, willing to pay attention to any question asked of him- no matter how trivial. |

The magical fluctuations leading up to the anniversary took their toll on the clan's favourite mage. At first it was barely noticeable, the multitude of floating eyes around him starting to flicker, and then taking different hues. They became increasingly unstable- and so did his magic.
In an effort to contain the increasingly dangerous fluctuations in his energy, he devised a breathtakingly complex spell with the help of his golem colleagues, etched in chalk on a hill far away from any other dragons. The two golems trudged back to the clan on his dismissal, and awaited his return.
Days turned into weeks and still there was no sign of the beloved master of the academy.
Loretta was studying an old book someone had found in the ruins, idly stirring her cup of tea when the form of the headmaster flickered into existence before her.
He was... changed.
He explained, in a language she did not recognise but still somehow understood, that the sheer surge of magical energy had driven his powers to new heights- at a cost to his corporeal form. The eyes around him swarmed in greater multitudes, twisting and shimmering with brief glimpses into other realms, but he had sacrificed the eyes he was born during his attempts to stay rooted in this material realm. Time and space itself seems to shift surreptitiously about him.
While he is back to teaching in the Academy, his ability to stay present in the moment is worse than ever. The languages he speak often shift as he talks, sometimes understandable despite not being a tongue from any land in Sornieth, other times unintelligible despite clearly being a local dialect.
