Biography
Rung Psychiatrist "It's Rung, as in ladder." |
|
Timid, quiet, often forgotten; Rung serves as the clan’s psychiatrist. His profession has gathered some attention from neighboring clans, as it’s a career path not many dragons take up. Even with this unusual quirk, he’s often forgotten as being a member of the clan. His simple name is usually forgotten, and he keeps to himself when not with a patient. His calm friendly disposition is a warm welcome to those who do bother to take interest in him. His background is very mysterious, and only a few dragons actually know about it. (Though it wouldn’t be that bad if people actually cared to listen). Born at the heart of the Mirrorlight Promenade, Rung spent most his time studying dusty textbooks about psychology that had been long forgotten by his clan. It wasn’t exactly frowned upon, as in the Light flight knowledge was knowledge, even if it didn’t seem useful at the time. But Rung harbored an intense fascination with the subject, creating a career out of it and starting his own personal clinic. It didn’t gain much popularity, and someone suggested it might find usefulness elsewhere. So began his travels; he traveled far to find a place to call home. The harsh landscape of the Ashfall Waste proved too much for him, he was nearly killed in the Tangled Wood by light-hating shadow dragons, and he was never a good swimmer. He settled into the Windswept Plateau, hearing pleasant tales of warm welcomes. Maybe they had just gotten lucky, he started to think after being there for a while. Sure they were friendly, but none seemed to pay him too much mind. He sighed in defeat after two weeks of no attention, and started to ponder what the Arcane flight was like. It seemed as if the Windsinger himself was smiling upon him when he stumbled upon a lone Pearlcatcher wandering the bamboo forests. He didn’t seem to remember much about himself past his own name, an amnesiac Rung concluded. Taking the dragon, who had called himself Skids, home he started to form a bond with him during recovery. Skids seemed to enjoy his company greatly, though Rung feared it was just out of a right place right time thing. Gossip traveled fast around the Steppes, and he heard news of a large clan that had stumbled in and taken up residency. He heard they sounded startled and afraid, hostile to those who tried to help and wary of everything that moved. Rung thought this was his chance to prove his profession wasn’t a waste of time, and he and Skids traveled to join his clan. They were cautiously accepted into their ranks, and Rung helped soothe their fears and struggles. Where they had come from it was standard to grin and bear it, and now they had to no more. With the clan settled in, he was soon faded from public eye as they didn’t need him as much anymore, and he now resides comfortably in the clan, having taken Skids as his mate. Maybe no one remembers him, but at least the one who matters does. |
