B I O G R A P H Y

Once every hundred years a pearlcatcher is born or scrolled into existence and given a special task. Every pearl has a soul and when pearls fall in battle or from sickness those pearls are left behind. If the soul is sold for profit by a dragon it has been said the soul of a pearlcatcher never rests, plaguing any who's talons come in contact with the treasure. Even the dragon who has the pearl is plagued with bad luck that won't stop until the dragon is dead or the pearl is given to another dragon to pass the curse. The Reaper of Souls is a pearlcatcher who can prevent these tragedies from happening.

The Reaper of Souls is a dragon who goes to battle sites and to sick or pearls who know they are going to die to take possession of their pearl. It does not matter if the Reaper was born a pearlcatcher or stumbled upon a scroll to change them into one, as long as they can see the soul within the pearl they are destined to be a reaper. Spirals, Guardians, or any dragon who shows these traits will be given a scroll to accept their fate. When a Reaper sees the soul inside they know everything about the dead pearlcatcher, from their wonderful deeds and conquests to any and all nefarious acts they have committed. They record the life events into the Book of Pearls and lay the pearl to rest in a safe place so no one would ever disturb the soul.

If a pearl is viewed as a good soul, the pearl is sent to the god of their element to be released and joined their loved ones. A pearl that didn't lead a nobel life will be laid in the deepest parts of their lands safe but not able to join their brethren in the lair of the gods. Most rest peacefully in their silence, and others are reborn to perhaps redeem themselves in a new life. The Reaper of Souls isn't immortal and eventually they too will become ill and succumb to the kiss of death, their cloak left behind for the next Reaper of Souls to claim the right to judge and protect the pearls left by departed pearlcatchers.

B I O G R A P H Y

Tresa here herself was born a spiral, her gift apparent from an early age amoungst the light dragons. It would make sense she would be from this flight, as it was the birth place of all pearlcatchers. She would often look into the pearls of others and tell the pearlcatchers about their lives when she was only a hatchling. This made many in her lair unwarry so she was sent away not knowing why others were upset. When she came to this wind clan she was given a magical scroll that turned her into a beautiful pearl catcher. An old dying Reaper of Souls heard of her and traveled to the clan to meet her. The old Pearl gave her her cloak and their pearl before walking into the foxfire bramble to join the other shadow creatures, the only sign she even existed was the Book of Pearls left behind as well as the cloak. Once she slipped into the Reaper Guise she found she could not remove it and accepted her role.

She joins her mate in trying to help sickly dragons, but if she knows that the patient will soon perish the pearl will disappear when the sick lay sleeping. If you find your pearl missing and know your time left is limited, just know your pearl is safe and will never find its way into a greedy lair's horde to trade for gems. When Tresa comes to the end of her days she will pass on her book and her cloak and wander into the Hewn City to join the other pearls who lay to rest there.
