It was clear that he was never enough for himself...
Taylor was wild in his youth. He was a dancing reed, careless and dry, as his figure fluttered by the riverside. As a boy (though, few respected that) he spent his summers there and he would stay until the sky went orange. Sometimes Davide would join him and the pair would draw monsters in the falling light, as far away from expectations as possible. Davide was always thankful for this peace after a day of trying and, as always, failing, to keep his friend in line. There were never any fights to pick out there. Not out where there was no one else. Just the glint of the sun on water and the whisper of the leaves around them.

But this setup was so delicate. Taylor knew it. He had never felt invincible; he always knew of death. He never understood it but it remained lodged away in his mind somewhere-- a grim reality that he was racing against an invisible yet omnipresent clock. It was the closest he had to a god. And he knew: No matter how much you love something you will lose it.

No matter how much he loved him he would lose him.
