Kahu

Makani awoke. The second night she had had the same dream. She now knew it wasn’t a dream, but a sending, a plea for help; not from danger, but for deliverance.
She didn’t wait for the third night’s sending. She went to Diath.
She told him of the Master level dragon who felt trapped somewhere in the Bramble of the Tangled Wood. She explained that his sending or longing was strong, but that only those with the ability to “hear” it would be able to understand it. She also told him that she was certain he was of Earth’s element and that his longing was towards Dragonhome.
Diath agreed that if true, this dragon needed to be offered relief.
“But, we just can’t go into the Shadow Lands unannounced,” offered Banquo.
“True,” Diath answered, “But, I believe that we have been invited by Valeuri to help
in Nature’s current push, have we not?” He looked at Genjiwei, who answered with a single nod.
“Well, then, tell Valtra to inform his parents that we accept. Avalon, you will take G’Tok and Anscross--he has the latest knowledge of the Shadow Lands--and
go “search” for applicants for Glademother in the Shadowlands. Makani, you will go with them.

With Anscross’ knowledge of the Shadowlands and of the local dialect, G'Tok’s experience with protocol as a courier, and Makani’s tenuous mental connection with the dragon, it didn’t take the team very long to discover Donatello, a bored sentry waiting for his shift to end.
Donatello a swamp/violet/gold Coatl, was easily convinced to come with the team back to Lulungomeena. Avalon negotiated with the clan-leaders and made a deal.
Along the way back Donatello told the others that he was one of three brothers all named Donatello with the same coloration. He wished to be different. Singular.
Back at Tareesh, he had color change cast upon him three times before a combination was selected. He was also renamed [at Makani’s suggestion] to Kahu, which stands for Guardian in the same small island language Makani’s name originates.
Kahu is now a member of the Lulungomeena Defense Force and leads the force at Yanta Base.
