Ainsley was a token for the Clan from Gardani, a Wind clan leader. Ainsley is the daughter of a high ranked Knight of the Plateau, Jakkon. He gave up his daughter not long after she had hatched because his mate died and he felt that his duty as her parent would be impaired by his job as a Guard and he figured she would be better off in the hands of another, more caring dragon. So when he returned to his own home, he did not take his daughter with him. Ainsley was almost immediately adopted by Emmeline.

Ainsley was always outgoing, and she would often talk to older dragons and try to find new tunnels in the ruins that they call home. Ainsley knows of the most short cuts in the whole clan. Now, Ainsley's adopted sister, Nymeria was way more shy, typically found hiding behind her younger sister.

As she grew, dragons found that Ainsley was ambitious. In her youth, Ainsley was fascinated by bugs, and as she grew, she was determined to taste every singe type of bug there is. And her ambitious nature made her make a career out of it.

When sickness struck the Wind Clan, Gardani evacuated her Clanmates to the Shadowy ruins. The illness took many of their lives, including Gardani's heir, Daenerys (who was a lesbian with Ainsley's niece, Finleigh) and even a few Shadow Dragons, but the Clan wouldn't be able to rebuild itself if they hadn't left the Windswept Plateau. One dragon to live was Ainsley's biological father, Jakkon. Obviously, she did not recognize him, but he knew who she was the moment he saw the dim shimmer of her wings. After a long talk, Ainsley forgave him for giving her up and is glad that he now lives in this Clan, but she in no way considers Jakkon her dad.
