At the foot of Rakraēt lie a forest, unchanged since the times of the First Era. Trees bend under the weight of snow, and the sky visible through their crowns is full of clouds herded by the winds from the Fortress of Ends. Travellers are few - even the denizens of Rakraēt don't dare venture into the deepest wilderness alone.

The Forest is... ominous. It is unnaturally quiet, and time seems to stand still there. By following your own footsteps, you might end up in an unfamiliar place. Some have wandered the Forest for months, thinking only a few days've passed. The widespread belief is that the Forest drives visitors mad - or that it feeds on loneliness.

Once in a blue moon, chirping can be heard in the Forest – a bird, surely, but no bird has ever been seen there, despite the abundance of plants. The melodic trill carries through the eerie silence with perfect clarity. Some foragers claim that it led them out of the Forest, and that they did in fact see the mysterious creature – flashing bright yellow against the snow – but never for long enough to identify what it was.
