Personality
  • Ignis may appear weak, but looks are always deceiving. She's a strong fighter, hugely intelligent, brave, strong, and compassionate. She fights in the Coliseum with Lupera, Tsukitora, and Evelynn, using her strength and her mind to bring victory. She's got a fiery spirit the Lady Flamecaller would be proud of.

History
The first thing she saw was fire. Red and orange flickering and throwing warm light over the dragons crowded around her. A huge Skydancer, with bright blue wings and equally colourful eyes, pried shards of hardened magma from around her, releasing her from the remains of her eggshell. She blinked, stretching her tiny wings, and purred. It was so warm. Lovely and warm and full of fire.
A Pearlcatcher with his wings like rippling fire and a huge luminous pearl clutched in one claw, approached carefully, looking her up and down with his electric eyes. She suddenly felt so exposed. She shrunk down, hiding behind shards of eggshell, and the blue dragon laughed. The dragon with fire wings blinked in surprise and confusion. He backed away as the other dragons laughed.
A red Ridgeback covered in white crackle and a purple Skydancer who looked like she was carved from crystal pushed him out of the way. The purple one picked her up carefully, cradling her and speaking in soft tones. Heat radiated from her body. She suddenly felt so sleepy. A yawn erupted from her, and she snuggled down to sleep.

She could hear something as she slept. A deep, rumbly voice, like the inside of a volcano. But soft, and maternal.
“You I will be Ignis.” the voice said “And you will be the leader of this clan, and lead them to glory in battle. You are small, little Fae, and though it is true that you are one of the Arcanist’s breeds, you will cleanse the land in fire with your own power. You are strong. You are unbreakable.” the voice paused, and laughed. “You are the forge in which your clan members will be strengthened and made into creatures of fire, my small little Ignis.”

“Little one. Open your eyes, little one.”
Ignis opened her eyes. The purple dragon stood over her, holding a bowl of something. She smiled, showing orange eyes and sharp teeth. “Hello, little one. Are you hungry?”
Ignis got up and stretched her wings. Her stomach growled, and the purple dragon handed her the bowl, laughing. The bowl was filled with insects, which she ate hungrily.
As she ate, the dragons in her new clan crowded around her again. A blue dappled Pearlcatcher female, with silver gilding all over her body, sat next to her shyly. She set down her pearl, which promptly rolled away. A green crystal Guardian female caught it before it could fall into a pool of lava.
“Hello.” the Pearlcatcher said, her voice soft and barely audible. “My name is Rowena. Do you have a name?”
Ignis looked at her, and she shifted uncomfortably. Later Rowena would tell her her eyes were brighter than any fire dragons’ she’d seen before. It was like fire from the Lady Flamecaller herself.
“Ignis.” Ignis said slowly, her voice tiny, but clear. “My name is Ignis, and I am the forge in which my clan members will be made strong.”
The other dragons shifted, a ripple of uncertainty going through them. Ignis stood her ground, looking at them, confidence filling her like warmth from a fire.
“Good,” the maternal voice said inside her. “You are strong. They see that even now.”
The male Pearlcatcher with the electric eyes shushed the other dragons. He looked at her carefully. “And who told you this?” he asked finally.
“A lady.” Ignis said, not realizing who was speaking to her in her head. “With a voice like a volcano.”
Rowena and the purple Skydancer gasped, and a green winged Coatl pushed his way through. He grabbed her tiny body and shook her.
“The Lady Flamecaller would not speak to you.” he hissed. “She does not speak to those born from the Arcanist!”
“Look at her eyes, Anasazi!” the purple Skydancer snapped, pushing him away. “They’re the orange of yours and mine, are they not?”
“Do not touch me, Morganite. The Fae speaks only in lies.” Anasazi snarled, flames licking the air around his mouth. Ignis refused to back down, staring into his duller orange eyes in defiance.
A green Wildclaw in armor stood. The earth rumbled slightly, and his chocolatey eyes met Anasazi’s in a silent challenge. Anasazi held eye contact for a few moments before looking away, and the Wildclaw wrapped his body around Ignis in protection as Anasazi backed away.
“The voice I hear is the Flamecaller.” Ignis said.
“Hello, my child.”
“She told me that I would lead this clan into glory.” she continued “I will cleanse the land in fire. She accepts me even though I was born from the Arcanist. I am of Fire. And I am stronger than you.” she spat at Anasazi.
A reddish Skydancer cheered suddenly. The black Fae sitting on his back cringed at the noise, but he clapped along. The blue Skydancer shushed them, but he was grinning hugely.
The male Pearlcatcher hummed softly in thought. He looked at Ignis carefully, his wings fluttering slightly. “If you say the Lady Flamecaller spoke to you, I do not doubt you. And though I am of Lightning I have pledged loyalty to her, and I do not question her words.” He bowed his head to Ignis respectably. “Welcome to your clan, Ignis.”
