The Scout

The morning was brisk, cold winds swept across the plateau bringing an icy chill to the normally warm lands. Ignoring the cold Simon stood at the very edge of the Windsingers domain, the cliffs overlooking the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Gazing out at the sea he lifted his snout to smell the air. The wind brought the smell of the ocean, of sea birds and....enemies. Simons eyes snapped open and began to scan the horizon, searching for the origin of the scent. His memory was vague, but his nose never forgot. The smell of enemies was fast approaching, and Simon turned and fled the cliff side. Thundering through the bamboo forests and across the rolling fields of grass he sprinted with all his strength. He had to reach the clan first, he had to warn them.

He was so focused on his mission he didn't even notice the stench of blood in the air. It wasn't untill he was looking at the mangled corpses he registered what had happened. The attack had already happened. The slain were left where they had fallen, so many bodies. Simon stood where he was, shocked and horrified. He couldn't move, the whole herd of Tundras he had been born and raised in was destroyed. Laid waste to, with no survivors.
