You think what could I possibly have been dreaming? because you have no recollection of what you were seeing while you slept. Overheated, you slide out of bed and walk to the window, taking deep breaths to try to calm your pulse. There is no moon tonight and the world outside is truly pitch black and silent and still...except for a flicker of movement through the trees. And another one. Another. Exactly the same. Far enough apart that you can't conceive of any creature that can move that fast or any group that behaves so identically. Backing away from the view, you slide into bed, certain that no more sleep will be had tonight. And yet, from one beat to the next, the waking world slips away.

These are the nights "Mictecacihuatl", Aztec Goddess of the Underworld walks the mortal world.
