ABOUT.
Ananke is the clan’s storyteller, the first to settle down a while after Hyperion, the clan’s official storyteller, left to seek another life. She showed a talent for crafting and telling tales and Heracles thought it a good idea to let her stay and keep the clan’s morale up.

To the clan’s hatchlings, she is the source of wonderful nursery rhymes and fairytales. To the rest of the clan, depending on what your taste is like, she prefers to regale epics and legends, sprinkling in the odd ghost story now and again, and is partial to conjuring up the occasional romance.

She's also the clan's Shadow representative, a position handed down by Matrim (they were shirking duties). Ananke was reluctant at first but after some cajoling accepted it. She's grown into the role since then.

IMPRESSIONS.
Animated, larger-than-life -- which is saying something. She's big for a ridgeback. Always down to clown. When she's not telling stories, she's doing chores around the clan.

Also likes using props to facilitate her storytelling -- they're not strictly necessary, but she keeps a few on-hand just in case. A storm-in-a-bottle (Trailing Tempest, as most dragons know it by), a couple candles, some floating baubles; in the hands of an expert, these can set the perfect backdrop to any tale. She's also capable of the odd shadow puppet show once in a while, but those require significant preparation (though she can be bribed). Also fond of theatrical make-up!

PAST.
Ananke hails from a troupe of storytellers and performers whose tour circuit takes them from the Tangled Wood to the Starfall Isles, with only a few brief stops in the Scarred Wasteland. One such stop was in the town on the outskirts of the Wandering Contagion. There, young Ananke and her friends dispersed to eat, drink, and make merry -- make a little too merry in Ananke's case, when she woke the next morning with a raging hangover to discover that the troupe had accidentally left her behind.

There was nothing to it. They would only come back that way three months later, and Ananke wasn't confident of travelling through the Isles alone. So she found a job doing menial chores in town, then a referral by its innkeeper sent her to still very small, very young Clan of Rattling Bone.

There, she shucked peas and swept floors, telling the stories to any clan members who worked alongside her. There were a few run-ins with Hyperion, the clan's lovelorn bard, and their initial rivalry dissipated when they realised that the clan enjoyed their occasional tale-telling competitions.

When the troupe returned, Ananke found herself hard-pressed to leave. She's stayed ever since, taking some time off each year to join her troupe or just to visit other clans to pick up new tales there.

FRIENDS.
Hyperion: Friend. The two have got a light-hearted rivalry going on.
Tyche: Drinking buddy. Ananke accompanies her on her and Thanatos's travels sometimes, even when they can't tell her about their missions.
