Meluial aka Mel
Meticulous | Strong | Compassionate

Meluial was the clan’s most promising mage before a discovery that blood augmented her power led to a downward spiral of self-harm that eventually opened her mind to the Shade's influence and culminated in her raking scars into her very pearl. Fearing what she might do, Mel turned to her clanmates for help. With their support she swapped from offensive magic to barrier-weaving and accepted of scroll of eternal youth. The smaller body with less blood and smaller magic reserves has allowed her to regain her control while she slowly expels the Shade along with the mucus she uses to coat her pearl. Though Meluial doubts the scars can ever be erased, she has faith that time will smooth the edges into memory and wisdom.

Though she appears to be a hatchling, others would do well to remember that she is a veteran and a skilled mage; the clan's actual hatchlings see her as an odd fae (small, but an adult nonetheless). Currently Mel works as the clan meteorologist and is usually found sitting outside the lair, studying cloud patterns to make semi-accurate predictions. She is more astute in her other task of guarding the clan against the Shade by reinforcing the lair's subtle barriers.

Attributes & relationships

Self-aware - knows her strengths and her limitations and accepts them without exaggerating either.
Insecure - on her dark days her limitations make her feel small and pathetic. Her clanmates admire her strength for coming to them and admitting that she needs their support.
Non-violent - believes that all creatures are inherently good and that a gentle approach is preferable to knocking the Shade out of someone. Refuses
Acutely attuned to the Shade thanks to her job and her past.
Content with her job guarding the clan - the clan is her home and she doesn't suffer from wanderlust.

The statue incident - was accidentally mistaken for a clan-deity statue when she sat outside the clan, lost in thought, with a bowl of flowers as lunch. This misconception was easily cleared up once the clan moved to the Greatwyrm Breach... If only her clanmates would let her forget it!
