The head of Radiant and Head scholar of the Willgrove Cathedral, Selim is an amiable and soft-spoken coatl with a keen mind and strong thirst for knowledge. Though he keeps to himself and stays in his quarters whenever not swamped by paperwork, Selim is well-known and well-loved by his clansmen and visiting scholars.

Known best for his kindness, easygoing attitude, easy acceptance and incredible mind, Selim has been the head of Radiant and his library for many years with few planned (and failed) coups, keeping Radiant and Murk close. He has a loyal gathering of dragons around him and few have anything bad to say about him.

Few minds compare to Selim’s brilliance. With his memory, logical mind and unconventional thinking Selim’s been regarded as a genius from a young age. Many pushed him to become a philosopher, historian or mathematician, but he felt no interest towards such a future. He was much comfortable in the role of a teacher and did spend a few years teaching before starting a library.

Nowadays he cannot dedicate as many hours as he would like to teaching, but always takes time to organize various events with fellow scholars and teach passionate new scholars and hatchlings various facts about Sornieth, history, mathematics and such. He is fluent in all widely used Sornieth languages with quite the exotic Coatl accent and teaches the Coatl language to those who wish to be able to speak in the rather peculiar language.

He is easily flustered by any compliments, stuttering out denials and flushing red like a tomato. Selim's not very perceptive of hidden emotions. He's very protective of his clansmen. Their protection is one of the few times he'll ignore his pacifistic personality. Even though he is quite antisocial, a debate can get quite heated if you challenge his powerful brain.

He is incredibly passionate about his work, as evidenced by the Atheneum itself. He organizes various events with little hatchlings and teaches them various fact about Sornieth, about the Court, Atheneum and their traditions. He is fluent in all widely used Sornieth languages and teaches the Coatl language to those who wish to be able to speak in the rather peculiar language.

He’s surprisingly lazy, wiggling out of doing paperwork to read books whenever possible. He is quite skilled in various kinds of Light magic, though he is best at delicate magics, such as restoration, runes, healing and protection magic. He created his first library to share his knowledge, only for it to be destroyed a few decades later by one of his enemies. It left a deep crack in his heart and left him in a bad mental state that he has since clawed out of, determined not to show his grief in front of his clansmen, clansmen that were looking to him to lead them, to help them.

........Nikolai: His second-in-command. Selim discovered Nikolai during one of his trips to scholarly gatherings and invited him to come with. Nowadays he gleefully shoves paperwork onto him.

........Leto: He views her as a sister, a family he never had. Leto suffers from bouts of depression and Selim always makes time to make sure she is wrapped up snugly in blankets and reads her various stories about brave knights, jolly dragons and love-struck teenagers. He was very supportive when she started dating Nikolai

........Claude: Kind of an adopted son, the dragon that will one day become his heir. He picked him up much like he did Nikolai, when the Wildclaw was only a dirt-poor orphan looking for education in a library, but no one wanted to grant a "mongrel like him" an hour or two of their time. They often clash in opinions, with Selim being a pacifist and Claude someone who wants to strike quickly and resolutely, but they both love their home.

........Aeron: A brother, if a distant one nowadays. They've both changed since their younger years and are no longer as idealistic and have differing opinions. Selim didn't agree with Aeron stepping down from leadership, which was their first major argument. They've since grown more apart, but cannot stay angry at one another.
