Paliamut, once a powerful leader, had lost her mind during her time in the Ashfall Waste. Members of the clan murmured to one another that her Plague origins had finally eaten away at the last of her senses. She began to wander the outskirts of the clan's territory, treading an erratic circular path around it, annihilating any living thing that happened to be within sight. Xodina, Paliamut's appointed second in command, stepped up and ordered sentries to be placed outside and around Palia's path of destruction for the sake of friendly visitors.

Finally Palia left the clan's territory altogether, after telling her primary mate, Moz, that she had left to find a "ghost" in the Scarred Wasteland. Upon hearing of this, Xodina interpreted Palia's action as an order to move back to the Plague territory from which the clan first sprung. Some members of the tribe were unhappy with this decision and many left.
Once settled in their new lair, those remaining noticed their deranged leader's gradual return of sanity. Palia is still not quite balanced, but she is able to once again make ruling decisions within the clan, with the watchful eyes of Xodina keeping her in check.

Gareth, one of her highest ranking warriors, has often recommended doing something about her illness.
"Ah, but our potion master is quite busy enough, wouldn't you say so yourself?" Palia would reply, and then bark out a cracking chortle. The secret to Palia's sanity was a ridgeback, who calls himself "Giro".

Currently, Palia leaves most of the official commands to Xodina and it's not uncommon for them to collaborate on major decisions. The two are seen together more often than Palia and Moz are.
