Overture

He hadn't liked her, not from the start. But he did always have a soft spot for orphans, and lo, it would mark his downfall.

Old Bio:
Overture is, first and foremost, a stud. He takes easily to the job, and he enjoys it. He enjoys meeting other dragons, of all shapes and sizes, getting to know them for the night, and then sending them on their way. He does have a strict policy, though, of only studding early in the day, since he likes to have his evenings to himself.

In general, Overture is friendly and outgoing, especially for a mirror. He's almost always the first in the clan to approach a stranger, and he leads the others into new experiences. He has taken rather well to being the leader of a mixed clan, though it brings a small, special thrill to him each time a new mirror enters the group. He is a true Arcane dragon, always seeking new knowledge, usually brought to him on the wings of other's tales, though he often goes out to experience new things for himself, and drags along the members of the clan that he thinks also need to experience it. Occasionally this results in him rousting the entire clan and dragging them out of the lair for a day or two, but as the clan grows larger this has started to get harder to facilitate.

Because of his interactions with dragons of many species, Overture is passably versed in the cultures of the other dragon breeds, and he communicates across breed barriers better than the usual dragon. He specifically had the first Fae in the clan teach him how best to help convey tone and emotion to other faes using his more limited fins, with additional help from his wings when he is on the ground to emphasize his tone. It's not a perfect translation by any means, but it is passable, and he has impressed a few with his efforts. However, he is still trying to grasp the Ridgeback culture of borrowing. Still sounds like stealing to him. The tunneling he can deal with, though.

Occasionally, when he is especially tired or very excited about something, he will start to use his wings to emphasize his emotions as he does when he is talking to a fae, although the movements are mostly lost on other dragons.

Additionally, Overture is enamored with hatchlings. He doesn't like to babysit them for long periods, and he hates brooding, but he loves to teach them new things, show them new experiences. Their simple joy in every little thing makes him smile, and swells his love of learning even more.

On the other hand, Overture does have a cave all to himself a little ways away from the main lair. Not too far, but just far enough that he doesn't have hatchlings underfoot constantly, or other dragons keeping him up at all hours. It's where he hangs his armor up for the night. He retires to his personal cave each night to have some time alone, or, on occasion, to share the company of a special friend.

Within his lair, he regularly breeds with both Foreward and Prelude, though neither of them are really his 'mate'. Because of his nature, he is unwilling to settle down and cement himself into a single relationship, and as long as everyone is fine with that, he's happy.

That all said, Overture is bisexual, equally willing to entertain males for a night as he is females. In fact, he is more likely to seek out male companionship because it's what he gets less often, though he won't turn down a pretty lady with a sharp mind. He only entertains those overnight that he finds a particular interest in, usually because of the conversation they keep with him rather than the tones on their hide.

He once had a special place in his heart for a double obsidian Guardian named Keshroke, whom he taught to hunt more effectively using his size one day while foraging in Wind's territory. They used to hunt often together, Overture's speed and agility complimenting Keshroke's bulk and raw power.

Due to a series of magical experiments, Overture has some amusing but rather confusing permanent conditions. The first was the glowing bulb that sprouts from the center of his mask, which he gained when an attack backfired in a particularly charged area of the Crystalspine Reaches. Next, while leading an experiment with a group of hatchlings, the young got overexcited and overcharged their experiment, and it blew up in Overture's face again, causing a pair of majestic black antlers to sprout from the same projection as his face fins over the next few days. It was concluded that they did not effect him negatively, so he has not had any cause to get rid of them. Most recently while trying to find a way to charm a tulip into ever-replenishing its flowers so that Zanna would stop complaining about the lack of appropriate tender vegetation for his consumption, the spell that Overture tried had the inexplicable effect of causing a neverending shower of flower petals to float around him. The other scholars of the clan are mystified and no one has yet figured out how to bring the shower to an end.
