Pandora

"And when Pandora opened the box...all that was left, was hope."

Growing up, Pandora's mother often told her the story of Pandora's Box. It always left her a little empty inside, wondering why she was named after the cause of despair and all the other problems in existence. But before she could know, her mother had new hatchlings and Pandora wasn't a priority anymore.

Unlike her siblings, who socialised a lot with the clan and went along with their parents to meetings and inter-networking, Pandora enjoyed a life of solitude, venturing through the Wispwillow Grove, curling up with a good book, illuminated by the glowing fungi dots that provided the only light in the Grove.
When the nest got too big, and it was time to leave, Pandora chose a spot everyone knew she would, making a home at the edge of the clan territory. Bare, desolate and hollow - some would say it was a representation of Pandora's very self.
And she enjoyed her tranquility, though sometimes, when watching the flickering flames in the distance and the echoing chatter, she would wonder what it would be like to share a life with another.

One day, there was a commotion; an outsider had come to seek aid, but the clan turned him away, leaving him for dead. But as she watched the young Spiral from her nest, determined to survive even though the young dragons of the clan would throw rocks at him and jeer at him, she felt a little warmth within her, which only grew as she took him under her wing and nursed him back to health.

By the time he was fully recovered, he was ready to leave.

"Come with me, and we can start anew."

And as they left, Pandora could finally label the warmth within her - Hope.
