Chased by a group of Amaranth Moths panically running away (or rather in circles while being watched by a confused group of Moths). That was the first impression that Crysis gave to Thief and Fairo. After watching the show for some time Fairo finally gave in and helped the Pearlcatcher.

After that they just didn't get rid of him. He followed the 'strong, protecting savior' everywhere, thanking him all the time and asking for more help and protection. After a while Thief had enough and told Crysic that he either started to learn fighting by himself or to just leave.
To Thiefs displeasure Crysis agreed to learn how to fight. With Thief as teacher.

Maybe Thief came to like the Philosopher as soon as he was able to fight and didn't only hinder the group.
