Adzuki had no memory of who she was before waking up in a cursed body. The first day of her new life, she had only been able to let out weak, tiny sobs in confusion. Adzuki had stumbled on her teensy baby feet through the Hewn City where she had been abandoned, but her cries brought no one to her. The new but old sensations of grass, or stone, or rock on her paws left her disoriented and weak. The little imp huddled miserably through the night as her tiny wings wrapped themselves around her form. Adzuki would spend the next days trying to remember the faces of her family and friends while scavenging for food throughout the region. Her head felt hazy like a heavy curtain had been put in place over who she used to be.

As Adzuki grew used to her physical limitations, the shadows she saw out of the corner of her eye would grow bolder and try to beckon her towards them. Because of the shock from her unconventional start in life, Adzuki had not realized what a Shade-infested place she had been left in! Everyday more eyes seem to watch her like a lion seeing a wounded gazelle. The flickering tendrils of an alien being would send chills up her spine whenever it appeared in the dark. The Hewn City was no place for a wandering hatchling all by herself.

As if the creatures could read her mind, Adzuki was ambushed soon after making plans to escape. While the shadows started to gather around her, Adzuki took off as fast as her wings could carry her. The Shade chased her past crumbling ruins and on into the woods. Just as she reached a Beacon overlooking the water, her strength failed her. She thought it would be her end when a clan of dragons emerged from inside the tower! They pushed the Shade away with their light and ushered Adzuki to safety. She had unknowingly found The Beacon of the Radiant Eye, the place where the Lightweaver herself resided. From that day on Adzuki vowed to spread only goodness and light in remembrance of the dragons that had saved her.

While a life serving by the Lightweaver's side had been appealing, there was so much of Sornieth Adzuki felt needed the sparkle that she had been given. She had made some wonderful new memories at the Beacon, but staying there forever wouldn't fulfill the purpose of her new life. With a sad smile and some training, Adzuki set off confident that she could protect herself now.

Her travels would take Adzuki from the lush greenness of the Everbloom Gardens to the fields and meadows of Windswept Plateau. She eagerly wished to relearn the world that had been forgotten. It was at times when the wind was at peace and Adzuki could glide through the air without fear that she wondered who she used to be. What kind of crook had she been to be left alone at the ruins of a cursed city? Had there been anyone to love her?
