Shh! I'm observing this clan! They don't know I'm here.

... wait, what do you mean that I'm literally the largest Snapper you've ever seen and that you doubt I could sneak if my life depended on it?!

Have you seen my disguise?

Impenetrable.

Cactus is an enigma. For decades he's been following and observing a single clan, using his ability to disguise himself to look like a cactus, or other natural elements so the members of the clan can't see him. The most important part of observing is to not get involved, to stay distant and just watch everything unfold naturally, and then write it all down, because the only difference between goofing around and science is writing it down.

While Cactus does take his work very seriously, there are tomes and tomes of his observations sprinkled in areas around the clan, sometimes he forgets himself. He's been known, on occasion to slip into the clan's living area and chat with hatchlings, and sometimes longtime clan members. One would think that the clan members would be surprised about this random dragon just appearing out of nowhere to talk to hatchlings, but the truth is, everyone already knows he's there.

Years ago Cactus was writing his observations down, doing his due diligence to make sure everything he thought interesting was recorded, when a small hatchling snuck up on him. Cactus, scared out of his wits at the sudden, unexpected voice beside him dropped his pen and his book and the hatchling got a good look at his notes. The hatchling started laughing because what he was writing down was not notes at all! They were elaborate doodles of all the funny things that he'd seen. It was then that the clan welcomed him, and let him live with the idea that he is still hiding from them, even when they clearly see him there.
