He was so tired. He’d been going for so long, and everything had gotten heavier. And heavier. And heavier.

He could barely hold up his head now. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d danced lightly through space. Ages ago. Maybe hundreds of ages ago.

He tried to take one last step. Just one more. But he couldn’t lift his leg, and then he couldn’t lift anything. His lungs fought to expand, but he was collapsing, collapsing under his own mass.

He fell in, in, inside himself, into a point, an infinitesimal point, all of his being folding, folding, folding.
Until he was something brand new. The light of every nearby star bent and warped around him, flaring this way and that. He collected beautiful things – gas, dust, plasma – in a disk all around him, and he enjoyed the way it all slowly spiraled into him.

A pinprick of infinite density, he beckoned all the universe to join him at the Event Horizon.
