Chica is part of The Spire's security force. Sure, she minds the hatchlings that are housed there, and she helps in the kitchens with Pudding - but her true job is to watch for any intruders or spies from the Stormcatcher's rivals. Her job is simple; keep the hatchlings in line, safe, and teach them just enough before they're sent away for the Dominance Effort.
She knows it's for the best. Without the Stormcatcher's experiments, she and her friends wouldn't have been sparked to life.
He gave them the gift - the gift of life.

And for that, the strange cyborgs are grateful.
