Linus

Linus, his sister Howlithe and their brother were hatched on a frosty winter night. They never felt the cold that night, for their parents were so protective, shielding them from all cold and warming them with their massive bodies.
Most of Linus' childhood was spent with his siblings, Howlithe especially. The two of them shared a special bond that their brother simply wasn't a part of - something he must have felt long into adulthood.
Their mother, Snowblind, was a majestic yet grounded dragon who loved her children very much, as did their father Vanity, but unlike her he had certain standards. Vanity was a small Skydancer with many desirable attributes. One could get the idea that he had the feeling that he could do better than this, but Snowblind was always good at keeping him grounded, as well as everyone around her.

Upon reaching adulthood, Linus and Howlithe agreed to go together as much as possible in The Search. For years they sought side by side, always having eachothers' backs.
One evening, while they were gathering for their next flight in the Ashfall Waste, they heard an enormous explosion. Something had happened in The Great Furnace, and a massive smoke cloud crept up on the land. Panic caught them, and the sought to the sky along with hundreds of others, both creatures and dragons. In the panic they lost sight of eachother and were parted. Linus flew north to the Tsunami Flats, where he knew that the fire couldn't reach him, and stayed there until everything had seemingly calmed down. He found himself very alone all of the sudden. Had she survived? Was she okay? It's not that she wasn't resourceful, but even a more powerful dragon than her would have it difficult in a magmacloud.
He made a plan. They had been gathering to head for the Southern Icefield to search and visit their mother, that would probably be where she'd headed. He quickly gathered for the trip and took off.

Linus flew parallel with the shore. It'd been some months since the incident now. When he'd visited his mother, she had hugged him so tight. Apparently Howlithe had been there up until a week earlier, worrying about the same things as he had. At least he now knew she was alive somewhere, still searching.
It was getting dark soon. He'd have to find shelter for the night, so he dove down to search for any signs of caves or dragons. Suddenly he noticed a few dragons seemingly having a discussion by the looks of it. He landed a few hundred meters from them, but could easily hear their conversation. A pale Wildclaw was seemingly having an issue with its fellow dragons, two coatls and a fae. A very tiredlooking Skydancer was attempting to mediate between them.
Linus stepped forward and introduced himself, asked if they had a lair he could spend a night in. The Wildclaw nodded and explained that they knew the troubles of The Search, as their leader happened to be a Guardian as well, and that she would have to approve of it first.
They took him to a very attractive clearing, concealed by trees but still seemingly with a view of the Frigid Floes. The Skydancer flew ahead to bring the message, and soon enough their leader emerged.
Linus couldn't believe his own eyes. What beautiful creature was this? What was this feeling spreading in his entire body? It felt .. like his Search had come to an end. This was it. His charge.
He was larger than she, but she looked incredibly strong. Her body was draped in silks, and the winter wind itself seemed to follow her where she walked. She decreed that she would allow him to stay the night, as long as he followed the laws of the lair.

Today, Linus and the beautiful Guardian enjoy their life together as mates. She leads the clan while he enjoys a more withdrawn life. He is part of the fishing team, where he enjoys good comradery with his fellow dragons. In his spare time, he researches fishing tactics, as he is attempting to develop his own using his big leathery wings.

He still enjoys visiting his mother now and again. They have been good supports for eachother since they learned that both Linus' father and his beloved sister Howlithe had followed Linus' other siblings in joining armies of the deities. He fears that she will grow lonely if he doesn't keep up the family bond.
