Cold as the lands as he hails from, Kardashev associates with little more than his machines. He keeps his business to himself, but is by no means quiet; given the chance, he'll be more than willing to share scathing remarks and bitingly sarcastic commentary. Despite this, he's more bark than bite, and when actually confronted he tends to shrug things off rather than continue the confrontation. He spent a lot of time in his youth working for the Stormcatcher after his egg was spirited away from his homeland in the southern icefields, but he feels no desire to return. Kardashev was eventually 'retired' by the Stormcatcher for his unwillingness to adhere to tight schedules and do so without questioning the purpose of the tasks he was asked to perform, but before the exaltation ceremony, he managed to escape and fled to the lands of light. Beaten and bruised, he was taken in by Canadensis, who helped nurse him back to health. Since then he's remained in the Radiant Cove, assisting Pantheon in the maintenance of his hounds and producing large quantities of mechanical parts. Nobody but he and his assistant, Zubrin, has any idea what these are intended for, and he is very tight lipped about his work. As well as being Iudicum's mechanic, Kardashev also controls a small amount of land on the far edge of the radiant cove which technically falls within the Stormcatcher's domain, and in this land lives the fruits of his experiments. Following his own escape from exaltation, Kardashev has started to take in other escaped exaltees or wanderers without a home; many of them come in in terrible shape, young dragons injured by the creatures wandering the Shifting Expanse, or older dragons who were 'retired' much like himself. While in his land he nurses them back to health and sends them on their way, but some required far more extensive work to keep them alive, including prosthetics and other robotic improvements. Many of these dragons chose to live in his land permanently, lest they get their parts damaged and fall prey to the creatures leaving the golem workshop to expand their territories in the Shifting Expanse.
