"Our daughter's daughters will adore us, and they'll sing in grateful chorus, 'Well done, Sister Suffragette!'"
Battling Bella represents the daughter's daughters of the Suffragettes - Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, and the real Battling Bella, Bella Abzug. She also represents our modern day crop of female "feminists" though that word unfortunately gets negative play these days. BB has a brother in my youngest daughter's clan named Belfry. I also wanted a name to tie her to him, and Bella worked there as well.

Bella Abzug had a huge, colorful personality. She once said, "This woman's place is in the House—the House of Representatives." And it was. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1970.
