Biography

Sekhmakh | The Scholar Sekhmakh was originally hatched out of a stolen ice egg in the hoard of a far away Plague Clan. The hatching itself was in fact, accidental, caused by a fire breathing dragon that happened to visit the hoard while harbouring a cough. The egg was kept in the clan for so long, Sekhmakh came out looking like a pureblood Plagueling. Except for her eyes, of course. The clan covered up the unwanted hatching by handing the baby to a young couple that matched her colours perfectly. Sekhmakh, being a nocturne, acclimated well and none of her peers would have been any the wiser. She loved decay, she revelled in it! It was the most fascinating and bizarre thing she could think of. She studied bones, she studied disease; sometimes her parents would have to step in and tear her away from her scrolls and force her to at least try to socialise with other hatchlings. Unfortunately, all good things must end, and following a lost battle with a neighbouring enemy clan, she and the survivors fled the ruins of her old clan. In the rush and panic, she lost her parents. The only one to guide her was a plague sprite she befriended in her home. It led her to a nearby sheltered cave, where she sat the conflict out, and left every night to survey the ruins and surroundings for her parents (or anything that remained of them). To no luck, however. It took weeks, but it was the sprite (which since then took the nickname Dust) that convinced her to leave. She wandered for months, visiting every clan she came upon and attempting to convince its leaders to take her in. Eventually she came to the harsh terrains of the Shifting Expanse, where she encountered a Scout of a nearby clan that offered to bring her food for the night. In conversation with a guard and his friend, her sprite provided Katarina with an opportunity to inquire about her origins. This small question led to a deep discussion (and later friendship) about their shared plague heritage. Katarina led Sekhmakh to her Queen and begged her to accept her into the clan. She offered everything she had as payment, which was her knowledge, initiative and her sprite. And that's how Sekhmakh landed herself a job as the clan researcher and librarian. Over the years she developed many friendships, but her close bonds with Ceinwen, Katarina, her mate and her surrogate daughter chalice kept her the happiest she's ever been. |
