Physical transformation can't undo the scars that mental and emotional abuse leaves behind. Butterfly still struggles with loving her body and can be very self deprecating.

Butterfly was hatched the smallest of her nest. Right from the start her personality was much bigger than her physical form, and much different than her nestmates. She knew who she was and wanted to be that in style... unfortunately, others only saw what was on the outside.

When your body doesn't match what you know you are, it can be a struggle even in the best of times. Poor Butterfly wasn't hatched around open-minded dragons, and they insisted on referring to her as they believed her to be... and they would punish her for trying to insist she was someone completely different. The little nocturne suffered much abuse, of all types, as her clanmates tried to stuff her into the box they'd built for her.

It took a long, long time for Butterfly to get the courage to fly away from her family. When she did, her feelings were hugely mixed. Euphoria at finally being free to be who she knew herself to be, sadness at leaving the only family she'd known, guilt at being the bad person her family had insisted she was... so many swirling emotions.

Luckily for the little dragon, she came across Chaotic Daydreams. This 'lair of lunatics' was full of other dragons who were different in their own ways. No one here was told how they must be... everyone just learned to interact with each other based on mutual respect and caring. Mistakes were sometimes made, but everyone tried and apologized for inadvertent errors. Here in this unique place, Butterfly could finally truly be herself.
