Biography

January 27th, 1965
A great man was born: He was my father. He was a loving, caring man, always laughing and always making the people around him laugh and smile. He was taken from us too soon: his liver failed (unexpectedly to us) October 31st, 2012. He lives on in our memories, even when our hearts throb and miss him.

In honor of his 50th birthday (January 27th, 2015), I have hatched four water eggs in attempt to get a tribute dragon for him. The first egg was a pink mirror girl, the second an orange tundra boy. The third egg was a sand guardian girl, and the fourth was a blue tundra boy. This boy, to be exact.

I love you dad, and I miss you!

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey"

Scott is one of the oldest dragons of Clan Dark-Blood, a pillar of the community since its early days. Unlike many of the clan's residents, who have specific roles to fill, he has always been more of a drifter, offering support wherever it is needed. Sometimes, his help comes in the form of kind words, and other times as a helping hand. He has never been one to shy away from showing others the full extent of his compassion, and he takes great pride in bringing happiness to the dragons around them. The world can be a cruel place, and he feels it is his duty to do everything in his power to make it kinder.

His favorite place to be, though, is among the hatchlings. He has always loved children, and they love him. Maybe it's his soft fur or his warm voice or his gentle words, but he brims with a light that hatchlings cannot help but trust, and as a result, he often finds himself acting as nest minder while parents are away, or worse, gone. In the early days of Clan Dark-Blood, before their move, an attack by Plague Imperials left many hatchlings orphaned, and it was Scott who rose to the occasion, taking whole broods of them under his wing. They were never left wanting for a parent because Scott was their father in everything but blood. He gave them all the joy and love he had come into the world with, and still he always had more to give. In the clan's great hour of need, he was absolutely selfless to the ones who needed it most.

After that, the clan moved away from the site of the attack, and day by day, the hatchlings grew. New nests hatched, these with parents who could be there to help them grow, but still Scott was often found with young dragons dangling from his fur, begging for bedtime stories or a game of hide and seek in the growing expanse of tunnels Clan Dark-Blood was beginning to call home. He made sure they never strayed too far, and those that did, the little troublemakers, could always be found in the end thanks to his keen sense of smell and his talent for bribing hatchlings with the most exciting tales of adventure and true love. Either he found them, or they returned to hear his stories, and all would be well.

Sometimes, though, when there are no hatchlings to be corralled, Scott joins the patrols to make sure the clan is safe and able to rest easy in the night. It was one such patrol that changed his life, too. He was out with Keye and Arlanna in the height of summer, when even the Tangled Wood seemed to curl in on itself with the heat. It was a safe time, when most foes were too busy seeking shade and blessed cool to attack the clan, and patrols were simply a matter of habit. Instead of finding an enemy at the gates that day, though, Scott and his companions found a hatchling. She was young and weak, too small to fend for herself, and certainly not suited to the blistering summer warmth. Without hesitation, Scott bundled her up and brought her home, Keye and Arlanna in close pursuit and patrol forgotten. There, he nursed her back to health alongside the other hatchlings, and she revealed herself to be a bright, energetic dragon.

He took a special shine to Stealthclaw, as she was named after she could not offer any other name, and she was glued to his side at all times. Even when she outgrew the younger hatchlings, she stayed to help her adoptive father watch them, and just to be by his side. He was her protector, her confidant, her family, and they weathered every trial and shared every triumph.

That was what scared him most the night Stealthclaw disappeared, though. She had never been parted from him for more than a couple hours at a time to go play with the other dragons her age, and she had certainly never missed a bedtime story. Worse, he couldn't track her scent through the clan tunnels, and panic gripped his heart as he roused all manner of patrols to track her down. But she soothed his fears when she reappeared in the morning, fully grown and sporting a fresh scar across her left eyes.

Ever since then, father and daughter have remained close as ever. Stealthclaw has blossomed in Clan Dark-Blood, not only becoming an accomplished priestess, but becoming the clan's heir as well, no small feat. Scott has felt a deep pride in every hatchling he has raised, but pride and love most of all for Stealthclaw. She is special to him in every way, and he to her. They still spend much of their time together, especially at meals, and nowadays, Stealthclaw tells as many stories as her father, sometimes with a mischievous enthusiasm to rival his own.

They are family, and he will love his daughter always.
