Biography

“The object was nauseous...the embodiment of all the snarling chaos and grinning fear that lurk behind life. It had looked at me as it died, and its eyes had the same odd quality that marked those other eyes which had stared at me underground..."
The Lurking Fear

TEMPEST MOUNTAIN

Tempest Mountain, found on the western border of the Shifting Expanse, is named for its fierce localized thunderstorms. The area is sparsely inhabited by smaller lairs that band together in emergencies. Locals know to quickly seek shelter from storms - not out of fear of the unpredictable elemental clashes, but of the creatures that hunt during the downpour.

These creatures are primarily subterranean. Research suggests they travel through a network of tunnels branching out from a central hive. While it remains unclear what causes them to surface during extreme weather events, it is well documented that they emerge in large packs to feast on any unsuspecting souls caught in the deluge.

Current attempts at study or eradication are hindered by paranoia. Rumors assert that the "creatures" are truly draconic in nature. They site the creatures' dissimilar eyes (one blue, one brown) to claim they are the biproduct of an unnatural pact between Earth and Lighting flights. More evidence is needed.
