She was so tired. She’d been going for so long, and everything had gotten heavier. And heavier. And heavier.
She could barely hold up her head now. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d danced lightly through space. Ages ago. Maybe hundreds of ages ago.
She tried to take one last step. Just one more. But she couldn’t lift her leg, and then she couldn’t lift anything. Her lungs fought to expand, but she was collapsing, collapsing under her own mass.
She fell in, in, inside herself, into a point, an infinitesimal point, all of her being folding, folding, folding.
Until she was something brand new. The light of every nearby star bent and warped around her, flaring this way and that. She collected beautiful things – gas, dust, plasma – in a disk all around her, and she enjoyed the way it all slowly spiraled into her.
A pinprick of infinite density, she beckoned all the universe to join her at the Event Horizon.
