Biography
Collard
Nature Representative
To say that Collard was reluctant to leave his home clan would be an understatement. The Gladeveins were his home, had been his home for as long as he could remember. He was never the most social of dragons, sure, but he had friends -- real, good, close friends, friends who he related to, friends who he'd had through thick and thin. Further than that, he never felt closer to the nature that he loved than he did when he dipped his feet into the floodwater and felt the silt flow between his claws. Unfortunately, it seems that nothing can last forever, and one day the leader of his Clan made the announcement that, due to a quickly escalating war with the local Beastclans, their Clan would not only have to relocate, but split up in order to do so, the sheer vastness of their clan preventing them from moving all together. Being not among the "vital few" who would go along with the leader, and having never been social enough to form a large group that he could form a clan with elsewhere, Collard found himself forced to strike out on his own -- something he was understandably bitter about.
In the end, this bitterness drove Collard from the Nature flight entirely. Unable to find a place within the Gladekeeper's domain that felt like home after being driven from the den he had spent his life within, Collard found himself wandering through other lands. It was a slow, depressing journey, made only worse by Collard's ever-worsening grief and homesickness. By the time he reached the Starfall Isles, Colard was beginning to think he'd never find another place that he could call home, that he'd be wandering the land into eternity.
It was the Starwood that won Collard over, in the end. It had been so long since Collard had felt close to nature, felt like he was truly a part of the world that he inhabited. But, as he finally trudged across the border from the Contagion and into the Strand, Collard finally felt it: this was a place he could learn to call home.

Ardent: After weeks of Collard simply wandering the Starwood on his own, mystified and inspired in a way he hadn't been in years, Ardent was the first dragon who he ran into who he didn't immediately flee from. This turned out to be something of a life-saver for Collard, as Ardent, ever welcoming and warm, was quick to offer Collard a place in the Clan and, later, a job as a representative -- a job that he was quick to take, especially given that it gave Collard an excuse to visit his original home (and perhaps do a little flaunting on how well he's been doing since he was driven out). Ignatius: Though Collard holds a great respect for Ignatius for his philosophies and for his merit as a fellow flight representative, they don't always get along on a personal level, given that Ignatius is quite pushy and a bit obnoxious and Collard can't ever seem to stop moping. Still, Ignatius considers them good pals. Collard may or may not agree, depending on how many of his things have been accidentally set on fire that particular week. |
