benthos


βένθος (bénthos) - 'the depths [of the sea]'

Benthos mines rare crystals that grow naturally only in a deep ocean trench. Whirlpools often open their maw on surface of the sea above the rift, making it difficult to get there and back. Because of this, he prefers to trade them down in the dark, for the necessary supplies and a small amount of currency. A thankless dead-end job. Who would come here of their own volition?

Naturally, crystals are not the most interesting thing that hides in the abyss.
