Something was just not right about this drink. Ammy lifted the tankard to her lips and took a quick sip. Winced. “Wahine,” she said, shoving the vessel toward the Skydancer. “Taste that.”

Wahine stopped her industrious chopping and leaned to look down into the mug Ammy pushed her way. “What’s wrong with it?” she asked skeptically.

“If I knew,” Ammy laughed, “I wouldn’t be asking you, would I?”

Ammy watched Wahine dip her beak into the concoction, catching a bit of liquid on the tip before sliding her tongue out to catch it. She had a violent reaction almost immediately. “Great Earthshaker, what did you do to it?” Wahine looked down into the cup again, like that might answer her question.

Even though that wasn’t the response Ammy hoped for, she laughed. “I didn’t do anything to it.”

Wahine smacked her beak. “Tastes like arctic scrub.”

Ammy balked. “What’s wrong with arctic scrub?”

“Besides that it’s disgusting?” Wahine asked. She smiled and went back to her cooking. “Health isn’t everything, you know. I think that if you’re healthy, you can safely enjoy a couple of things that aren’t as healthy.”

“Eating healthy is enjoyable,” Ammy said quietly.

Wahine nodded. “Yes. But not all the time. Everything in moderation, Ammy. Even good things. That’s what life’s about.”________________________________________ 		MmsjETx.png

Ammy has been making her smoothies and herbal drinks for as long as she can remember, and not for any specific reason. She enjoys the thought of helping her clan maintain their health and wellbeing by giving the habit of healthful eating… And sometimes being a little pushy about that habit. No one holds it against her, though, since most of the things she makes are quite good. However, as with anything healthy, there are bound to be a few mixes and concoctions that don’t tickle the taste buds as much as knock them out cold. Still, if a dragon is looking for a holistic cure, Ammy is the first dragon they’ll try.

Balinese is Ammy’s supportive mate, and willing test subject for any of her newest brews. His stark honesty about the taste has helped Ammy make more than one drink more palatable even for the most picky hatchling. He will also help out Ammy’s good friend, the clan’s cook, Wahine. Ammy and Wahine have been known to spend hours slaving over the perfect combination of sip and snack, and when they work together the meal is never disappointing. Since Ammy is sometimes called upon to put her drinks to curative use, she also spends time with the clan’s shaman, Navahine. Since Ammy is somewhat of a novice at healing, Navahine is happy to tutor her on the finer points of herbs and tonics when she has time.

As a Light dragon, one might expect Ammy to hold truth in high regard. This is, perhaps, why her best friends are the ones who will tell her what they really think of her new drink creations. Ammy’s disposition is that the truth is of little use if one doesn’t learn from it. Even though she spends more of her time searching for the just-right combinations of fruits and herbs, she views this as just as much a philosophical endeavor as thinking about the creation of the universe and the gods. After all, there is an entire maxim just for Ammy’s line of work: “A dragon is what a dragon eats.” Ammy figures that if a dragon eats good and healthy things, then that is what the dragon will be. And that is as close to the truth as Ammy thinks she ever need be.
