ziusura's Clan

First everything's dark, but you're too disoriented to tell because last you knew you were stuffing your face with fruit loops, or tying your shoe laces, or perhaps holding hands with a suitor. There's a blinding flash of blue, then brown, and an unspecified amount of time later there's a sucking sound that builds into a dull roar. The moment feels like it lasts for ever--your eyes burn and your ears feel like every unsteady thumpa-thump is one step closer to them bursting.

But then it collapses in one quick instance, and you're clutching sand beneath your hands, choking on dust that the wind picks up. Your eyes burn for a different reason, but at least you know the cause this time.

There's a scale-y green foot in front of you, the only indication that you're not standing. You shift your wings (wings???) and flex your legs until you're upright, and an impossibly large dragon stands in front of you. Her gaze is cool and unwavering, but somehow you feel comforted.

"Welcome to Sornieth," she says, flexing the almost fin like extensions on her jowls. "You've just come through the rift."


The Clan in the Rift is a collection of dragons and oddities that came through the rift and those sworn to protect it/them. The rift is a shifting incorporeal mass that bridges time and space that can only be seen in small moments, and often it's not seen at all--the activity only marked by an appearance of something there that once wasn't. It's densest in the Starfall Isles and the Shifting Expanse, the latter due to the lightning farms, Tempest Spire, and the every changing energy levels across the arid desert. (Though there are reports from Glitch's colleagues in Dragonhome that the rift appears to be traveling to the shattered remains Pillar--reports that she believes are totally unfounded.) Mostly it's items and driftwood that get spit out of the rift, but occasionally there are dragons, or dragons that look like dragons but say they aren't (Sawyer says there's a word in coatl speak that covers it, but nothing in draconic but names for the beastclans, and dragons aren't from the beastclans).

The non-curiosity clan members mostly contains wanders--those willing to leave and travel through the shifting expanse to find and protect those the rift pulls in.

Despite Glitch's best efforts, the rift has been suspiciously quiet lately, and with the harpies in Carrion Canyon beginning to crawl out and wreak havoc, tensions are mounting and the Clan in the Rift is beginning to feel the pressure...
