The forest is dark at night, and you're beginning to wonder why you even accepted the dare to stay in these dark and murky depths from dusk until dawn. Nothing had happened yet so far, so you guess it's not that bad just to spend a fear-filled night in order to win that rare familiar.

A skittering registers from behind and you whirl around, holding your lantern up to cast its dim light onto the undergrowth. Nothing. It was probably just a woodland creature, you reassure yourself.

There, that skittering again! Your heart pounding, you back away from the noise and bump into something solid. Something... sticky.

With your heart in your mouth, you turn your head to come face to face with the four dimly glowing eyes of a widely grinning mirror dragon. It breathes heavily.

"My, my, my," the mirror dragon says in a raspy voice. "Look what we have here, children!"

With a jolt of terror, you realize you are surrounded by smaller dragons: mirrors and faes. They all have the same eery look in their eyes, each widely grinning.

They're chanting, whispering something. It takes a moment for you to realize what it is.

Prey. Prey. Prey.

You're beginning to think that familiar wasn't worth all the trouble.


"My, my, my! Look what we have here, children!"

Prey. Prey. PREY.

"Yes, yes, my sweet little ones. But you must be patient. Papa will wrap this prey up and then you may feed off its soul. But first, we must wait until it is submissive. Struggling souls are such a hassle to consume."

Ah, my mistress, we thank you for providing this meal.

"Soon this prey will become one of us, my hive."
