When you arrive at the entrance to the lair of the Smoldering Skies Clan, you are struck by how uncivilized it looks outside. In the deadened, yellow grass of the Hewn City, eternally devoid of sunlight, stands a crumbling ruin. A few columns still stand tall, their tops snubbed and scattered around the ground before the gaping entrance to the underground home of this venerable lair, home to dragons of all flights, one which you have wanted to see for some time.

Two Wildclaw guards stand outside, their claws grasping elaborate torches crafted from fine silver, burning with what appears to be an everlasting magical flame. Their faces are shrouded in hoods, but as you approach, they greet you with a toothy grin. "Come to see the Clan, eh?" one says, not unkindly, gesturing towards the entrance. "All we ask is that you leave any violence, or any preconceptions of the world, at the door."

Inside is an enormous system of several floors of underground cave, the walls all lined with torches similar to the ones you saw outside, and you can peer into chambers that all look like little libraries, dragons of all shapes, sizes, and flights scurrying around, all collecting and recording knowledge. There's a cavern for everything - and each dragon greets you with a smile and a bow, happy to accept an outsider, even for such a short visit.

The Smoldering Skies Clan has not always been, but is now permanently, a proud member of the Light Flight. The majority of dragons within the Clan are devoutly religious and honor the Lightweaver, unless they had a strong upbringing from their original home.
The original progenitor of the Clan is, unfortunately, long gone. The current matriarch, and the dragon who will hold this position for the forseeable future, is Sissiph. She was taken in when I found someone looking for her original owner, who could not be found - I fell in love with her and she is still my favorite dragon in this lair, and will be spoiled forever and ever.
I am trying to be a lore lair. My eventual goal is to have all dragons lored, and then to add lore to every hatchling that is sold. At that point, I might open a lore hatchery.
I love letters from hatchlings and I will occasionally do them if it looks like the original owner is a fan of participating in dragon lore!
I do participate in Light dominance informally, and I will occasionally purchase a bunch of dragons and exalt them. I always give nice names. The Smoldering Skies Clan believes exaltation is the highest honor, and it is taken at face value - the dragon literally goes to serve under the Lightweaver, rather than any morbid alternatives.
