Haha it's not meant to look like either really, it's my own design. I was inspired by the concept of both in terms of narrative and magic rather than the visual look :)

I'm a fan of Madoka Magica but I was more inspired by the soul gems in Skyrim. The idea of trapping multiple enemy souls and using them for magic, it has a witchy feel to it. But I love that you thought of Kyubey! :D
