The ancient boughs of The Dreadwoods stretch, petrified into pillars and chasms of stone overhead.

But in the insect-hole pockmarked roots and the fungi laden trunks, life thrives off the corpses of trees older than Sorienth’s founding deities.

Here the living and the rot curl around each other,
[the rot loves us the rot consumes us]
a lover’s embrace and the taut hold of a noose.
Everything here has its roots in the corpses of its fellows.
But things can only grow so tall towards the surface before they succumb to new life clawing at its ankles.
