False gods, false faces.

Komaran speaks with the false eyes that watch and speak open the prophecies of lies. To save his existence, he must take their memory, their ethereal lives, and hold them within his grasp like so many delicate bugs.

They crawl in and out of the holes drilled into the Rotrock Rim. They gather at the tavern, swapping nearly-forgotten stories and exchanging responsibility for the newcomers. Flies in a trap, all of them, but blessedly unknowing. The young ones come and need care, and are granted safety in the wreck of fading lives. All they know is the Rim. All they can hope for is another day, safe in the hellscape.

Towser calls the final drinks and they all slumber in their dens, dreaming of the false face that rules them, worshipping in their nightmares that fade with the coming sun.

They are all supplicants to their False God, worshipping in a cathedral of rot.
