You find yourself lost, with no real sense of where you are. You have some vague idea that you’re near the edge of the Wandering Contagion- or, no, maybe the Reedcleft Ascent? Something like that. It occurs to you that you should be a little bit concerned, but by now some especially pungent marsh gas has invaded your nose, and you find that you’re not worried about very much at all. Relieved from the burden of higher cognitive functions, you stumble on into the mist. You’re confident that you’re headed somewhere, even if you have no idea of what that somewhere is.
All of a sudden the ground slopes sharply, and broken logs and boulders try and trip you up. In spite of the hostile landscape you press on, eventually finding an old creekbed. You follow it downwards. The silty bank rises up on either side of you, turning into towering walls that block out the remaining light. You keep going for a little while, sure that your goal is near at hand.
A lamppost flickers on over your head, blinding you. You blink your eyes rapidly, and when they’ve finally adjusted, you can make out a rough wooden sign, painted by hand in various shades of mud.
