In theory, the Peryton Research Station is a floating laboratory situated over a ley line convergence near the northern border of the Frigid Floes, whose small but dedicated team of resident scientists study the effects of arcane energy on marine life. In practice, it's a pile of scrap metal lashed to half an iceberg, inhabited mostly by a colorful selection of freeloading sea monsters.

It's kind of a long story.
