Siani hatched from an abandoned egg in the middle of the Shattered Plain. She had no family and no clan. She was too young to fend for herself and was completely helpless. By chance, a pearlcatcher clan happened upon her before she met an untimely demise. She grew up in an exclusively Pearlcatcher family with no knowledge of her true nature as a guardian. The search for a charge? She had never heard of such things. Instead she was raised with a profound respect for beauty and a love of gossip.

She was perfectly content with life until a new and majestic skydancer joined the clan. He had ventured all the way from his old Light Flight clan in the Sunbeam ruins. He was on a pilgrimage to see the ruins of The Pillar of the World and stopped at their clan to ask for a place to rest for a day or two.

Upon their meeting, Siani knew that Blaise was The One. The One? The One what? She didn't know. Siani had unknowingly happened upon her Charge but couldn't make sense of these strange feelings. She wished to spend as much time by Blaise's side as she could and luckily, Blaise wanted the same thing. He was absolutely entranced by her beauty and rained praises upon her constantly. Everyone else in the clan envied her for grabbing the attention of the gorgeous Blaise. During his short stay, Siani's ego grew to unimaginable heights.

Siani begged for Blaise to stay with her and her clan forever. She knew that she wouldn't be able to handle his leaving but he refused. He had a duty to his own clan and had to return, no matter what.

For days after his departure, Siani felt sick. Feelings of depression and frustration and failure and worry over Blaise's safety took hold of her. After only a week, she couldn't handle it anymore. She had to find him: had to know that he was safe even if it meant abandoning the only home she knew. Quickly gathering her few belongings, she bid fair-well to her family and began her journey.
