PaleFiends' Clan
The Pale Heart will reveal what monsters we truly are...
Clan Info
The Pale Heart is a tiny, pearlescent stone about the size of a dragon's eye. Found by adventurous Light dragons in the Hewn City, it glimmered with a strange, odd light even then. Kept in the hoard of their clan, among the other gems, it was years until a small, dark-scaled Guardian dragon took it as her Charge.
At first her fellows found this habit bemusing, and nothing more. She treasured the stone, coveted it, whispered her darkest secrets to it... and gradually, she grew pale. The stone made her scales as white as milk, and her eyes, once golden with Light, darkened to black. She left in the dead of night, her stone nestled under her tongue, and never returned.
They blamed the Heart, claiming it had turned her dark, turned her mad, but she knew better. The stone had merely revealed the darkness within herself, drained the colors from her glossy scales, a sign of the evil she was capable of. Even she, however, didn't know the stones origin; it was used by the civilization that preceded theirs as a way of marking those with a particularly dark heart. As a warning to the world, it would make their eyes and hair as white as snow. Originally it was a tool of justice, of protection.
Now Lucem uses it to gather others as black-hearted as she. Under her careful, twisted care, the stone has become strong enough to blanch the scales of a malicious dragon within hours, and hatchlings born near it are twisted, both body and soul. She searches for those with scales as white as hers, with souls as dark... and one day, Sornieth will tremble in the shadow of their ivory wings.
