Deep in the heart of the Gladeveins hidden from prying eyes by tangled vines and ancient growth is a crystal clear pool carved into a hollow of almandine. The water shimmers with the blood red hue of the stone, bouncing reflections from the tangled growth of old trees all around. On a cool, dark night the stars glinting off the still surface of the pool cast twinkling red lights through the misty air. In the daylight, small birds and insects dart along the surface in the lazy, peaceful way of nature. All around the pool in the undergrowth, in the hollows of trees, in carefully dug burrows, and in the secretive houses at the tops of the largest oaks lives the Moonset Coven and their companions.

This small coven of witches uses the sacred pool of water as a mirror into other worlds, spiritual and material. Their past, present, and future is tied to the fate of the pool, and the pool is tied to their fate. Its shallow waters call to dragons with a sensitivity to magic, drawing in being both good and bad from across the lands. It is up to the Moonset Coven to determine the worth of the dragons who show up to their home, to protect the pool and themselves. They do not hesitate to unleash the Gladekeeper's fury upon intruders who dare to maliciously disturb their sacred place. Likewise, they do not hesitate to welcome worthy dragons into their fold. The mystery surrounding their lives peels away for those lucky enough to join them, revealing the magic of the pool and the spirit world beyond its calm surface.

The coven isn't all wrath and fury, despite the rumors that slither through the undergrowth and whisper through the words of wind. To all those who wander the woods of the Gladekeeper, the coven offers respite, healing, and guidance. Their care taking is not renowned by those who have been in it, though they do what needs to be done and are quick to put dragons back on their feet and on their way. It is highly unlikely that the Moonset Coven will begin a fight without proper provocation and they will tend to stay away from fights on principle. Staying hidden from those wandering through their territory is their preferred method. When the wanderers require assistance, the coven will melt out of the tangled undergrowth and give it.

The power of the pool has been growing steadily, sending its signal out along mysterious pathways and underground systems. More have been coming to its call and the Moonset Coven has had its hands full repelling the unsavory dragons and accepting the desirable ones. Among the dragons recent to the coven are two imperials with seemingly noble cause. Hunters of dark spirits, or so they claim, the coven accepted them into their number as fellow mages.

The Coven did not always exist as such. Ages ago there was no coven around the pool, only an endless stream of pilgrims migrating by and bathing in the magical essence of the waters. When an ice dragon, calmed by her age and her wisdom, led her clan into the Gladekeeper's territory, she claimed the scrying pool as her own and swore to protect it despite it not being her charge. No dragon with an inkling of who this ice guardian is will dare step up to her as she is well respected and feared by many who know of her from ages past. Despite her fearsome reputation, she is no longer the sole leader of the coven. They make decisions as a whole, talking it over among themselves before coming to a conclusion that they all agree on.
