The Underground Tempest

On the edge of the canyon, hidden between common nooks and cracks of the lightning struck valley, the skull of a death’s head stag sits atop a pile of carrion. It is a signifier whose carved antlers point to a series of identically sharpened racks of skulls. If their pattern is followed carefully, they will lead to a crack in the rock wall of the canyon. The opening is deceptively large once squeezed past the initial crack (still, a hassle for some larger species).

Once inside, the traveler will find their self in a cavernous tunnel gradually sloping downwards in a spiral. The walls are lit with enchanted bones and other finds that glow an electric cyan. Following the flickering lights downward, the tunnel will eventually open up to a small cave where the guard stand watch.

If the traveler is welcomed, they will be led past this barren entrance, through a curtain of painted fragments of clay pots, bones, and shells hung in strings. They shine and bounce the reflected light around the dark stalagmites of the small community of dragonkind revealed to those who enter. The cave is not large in height, but spreads out wide in a labyrinth of carved rock pathways, homes and stalls built by it’s dwellers.
