Snowflakes drift up from the infinite darkness; up from the ground and into the sky, with not a wisp of wind to be felt. The night is crisp, laced with frozen clouds of breath and echoing footfalls. Your feet sink into the clean snow, the sound reverberating off the mountain walls towering above. A creek runs beside you, months frozen over. Underneath the ice it trickles, flowing ahead into the gleaming whiteness. The night is dark, but the ground glows and runs until it disappears into the icy mist.

You stop dead in your tracks as you realize that the towering white wall in front of you is not mist. The wall goes up forever and ends at each outcrop of mountain, and as quiet anticipation fills you, you come to realize no dragon would ever be foolish enough to climb it. You know what this place is, and shivers race up your spine. A secluded, sinister city lives behind that wall and deep within the mountain crag. Great dragons of eldritch ice powers, frigid fugitives, deserters, and executioners lie beyond the great barrier, lying dormant. Feeling nervous, you turn around quickly, only to see a silhouette amongst the shroud. It stares at you through the darkness, its white eyes intent.

Something about the lithe apparition makes you fall back into the snowbank, and with one blink of the eye it is gone. This place is not to be touched; it is not to be visited. Despite being only a passerby, it is apparent you are unwanted here. You jump to your feet and launch yourself into the blackness in the opposite direction of the wall. The snow grows dimmer as you make distance, but you can’t help but feeling like the great looming wall is unable to sink into the horizon. Something close continues to watch in the veil of the mountains all around. You parley with your clan before daybreak.

The next morning you cannot find it again.
