The first of the early dawnlight peaks above the horizon and scatters into a thousand brilliant points that flicker and dance atop the mirrored surface of the waves. As the morning mist fades, new light christens a new day, and with it, new strife.

The call of distant seabirds travels through the crisp salty air, underscored by the occasional bark of seals and the rhythmic sound of waves breaking against the bleached limestone cliffs that trace the hewn coastline. Below, dozens of ships lay at anchor, sheltered from the wrath of the wind and waves. Between the outlines of greened, barnacle-crusted hulls lies the shimmering outline of a city reflected in the water.

As the city rises from its nightly trance, the comforting sounds of life echo throughout its streets once more. The familiar scents of spice and ash drift through the air, tasting ever so faintly of mulled wine and dried herbs. A laurel of smoke and steam intertwined rises over the city from the glowing warmth of hundreds of hearthfires. Soon the daily pains and labors of life will begin in earnest, but for now, the city rests easy to prepare for the upcoming day.

Thus begins a single morning of a single day in the city of Iphoray, as it has in the past and will in the future, for as long as the Lightweaver wills.
