can't say, some of them show up in specific settings (this might be the case for the purple dragon) and the core manuals don't have them. If three different settings have their own version of, say, an ochre dragon, then it's normal that the official materials don't have them when a new DnD edition comes out

Oh, yeah, there's a few off-color dragons out there like the gray dragon (no breath weapon but extra fighting abilities), brown dragon (I think that one was flightless and lived in the desert?) and some "intermediates" between two dragon species (like a pink dragon being a hybrid of a red and white, which let's be honest I couldn't see a red dragon having any interest in the more animalistic whites)...

I admit to liking the metallics over the chromatics (I know less about the various gem dragons) so... bronze and silver are definitely up there, though an NPC in the tyranny of dragons module gave me a bit of a weakness for a good nerdy old brass dragon

Hi! I started playing DnD 2e, 3e/3.5 felt a little too complicated for me, 4e was a fun system and I like it a lot (just not as DnD, hah) but my favourite DnD is 5e, it's a very good entry-level tabletop system to initiate people to gaming, has the right balance of rule complexity to possibilities for customization while still respecting the flavor of what really makes the core of DnD. Is it a perfect system? Probably not, there is no "perfect" system because every player has their own playstyle. But I've never felt like my character was not contributing to the party in a significant way, in or out of combat. And so that's my favourite DnD!
