CastInCopper's Clan

Under the yellow pine trees in the sunbeam ruins, in a space between the Cahos of the Emporor's wake, the Mystery of the Hewn city, and the Shallow waters of the Sea of a thousand currents, in an old den long abandoned by it's makers, is the clan led by Phthalo, an Obelisk with a lust for power, and secret to keep buried...

Phthalo desires control, control over his clanmates, over his mine, over as much land as he can grab. His laws are strict, and anyone who breaks them can expect a harsh punishment, exile at best, a one way trip to the dungeon at worst.

Phthalo's Lair lies by the river, just outside the bounds of the Hewn City. the trees are mostly yellow, but they become greener as one heads west towards the inland sea. The territory is heavily forested, and Phthalo's Nature mages keep it that way, growing the trees tall and thick enough to keep the lair disguised.

The lair itself is fairly spacious, a dip in the earth, with the foliage engendered in such a way to let plenty of sun in, whale still keeping the lair hidden from the air. Phthalo's clan did not bild the lair themselves, it was constructed by others long ago, and abandoned under circumstances no one seems to remember. Phthalo's clan moved in, and grew quickly. it is still growing, and every now and then new sleeping chambers need to be dug.

After Phthalo's clan surpassed 50 members, it territory was no longer enough to support it, so they sought to expand. Phthalo claimed as much free land around him as he could, then he went further, and began to take it from other clans. One of these was Glass Clan, who owned a good chunk of land around the outskirts of Hewn City. seeing as they were small and without a military, Phthalo attacked, driving the clan out, capturing their king, and claiming their land for himself.

Phthalo found more than he expected, for on their land he found a great mine, bursting with high quality copper. The mine was massively complex, with hundreds of paths winding away and back onto each other, great black pits, innumerable flooded tunnels, and a great deal of collapses, seemingly done with intention. Although very old a great deal of copper has been seemingly left behind, and curiously, it seems to grow back soon after it's mined out.

Phthalo hungered for how much treasure he could make, and his clan set about striping the mine bare, then returning a few weeks later to mine further when the Copper grew back. But they ended up finding more than they bargained for, for on one expedition, they ventured into an unmapped cave and found an odd little statue of a Goaler dragonet. They brought it out and began to clean it, and to their shock, it opened it's eyes.

Since a time long forgotten, the Copper Mine within the Hewn City has been cursed. Dragons will go in, seeking to mine the riches within, and should they let their eyes shut, and sleep overtake them, the mine will claim them as it's own, encasing them in copper, putting them into a deep hibernation, sealing away all their memories, and staining their coats a coppery color.

As Phthalo's clan digs deeper and deeper, they are finding more and more of these unlucky dragons, those who have been taken by the mine, and freeing them from their slumber. Many of them have been asleep for so many years that they no longer recognize the world they see, and there is no one alive who remembers who they once were. These dragons have gathered and formed a little clan of their own on the site of a crumbling monastery they call the Coppershrine.
