Lore of Shaleworth Isles
BOOM!
The sound of a large impact off in the distance. Coral raised her head from the scroll she was studying. From her spot in the grass she could see smoke rising from the direction of the sound. She rose to her talon. Normally she wasn't the heroic, or adventuring type, but something was drawing her to investigate what had happened.
As she approached from the air, she began to make out another island in the distance. She guessed that this was Cathion island, but she had never really visited it because it wasn't very populated. From a distance still, she could see a smoldering rock, about half the size of the island that had imbedded itself into one of the edges of the island.
She could see flames that still licked at the surrounding greenery and crawled all over the apparent meteor. As she touched down, she could see that the meteor was very porous. As she glanced around, she was aware that there were several other dragons landing or approaching the island. From what she could see there were nine or ten others who were approaching the meteor with her. They all appeared to be relatively young, like her, but the youngest was a smaller green Fae who approached with wide eyed uncertainty.
Suddenly Coral felt a strange tug that beckoned her closer to the rock. She stepped ever closer, almost involuntarily. Suddenly a small creature slipped out of one of the crevasses in the cervices of the rock. It was similar to a stoat or a ferret, but parts of it were made of molten material and most of its body had bright flames that danced along it. The most fascinating thing about this little creature though, was the immense magical energy it gave off. Even having worked with magic her whole life, this was something new.
The small creature crawled up her leg to sit on her shoulder. When the creature touched her she felt insanely powerful, like she could take on anything.
The others there also each now had an accompanying creature, even the young Fae, who appeared to be feeling more confident now.
These eleven would later be known as the founders of Cathion Island. As the population on the island grew, they began to expand the other five islands that were located nearby, forming what would be known as the Shalewoth isles.
